Southern Illinois STEM Network

The Southern Illinois STEM Network coordinates a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math experiences and activities for Southern Illinois girls in grades 4 through 12, as well as for their parents, teachers, and counselors. We wish to encourage girls to develop their own natural interest in STEM from an early age, and to provide girls with a series of exciting STEM activities to fit their age, experience, and skill as they progress through school.

C.E. Brehm Memorial Library


Library service in Mt. Vernon began with the Shakespeare Club in 1893.  The city of Mt. Vernon worked with the Shakespeare Club and established a free public library in 1899.  In 1905 the library was moved into the new Carnegie building.  Two wings were added in 1982 and the library was renamed C.E. Brehm Memorial Public Library.  The library became a district library in 1989, and in 2003 the district grew from 3 townships to 15 townships. 

The mission of the library is to provide access to the universe of information, at the library and through our home page.  Our goal is to provide educational and recreational resources and services to all members of the district.
